AS Roma agree £14.3m deal to sign Chelsea target

Stamford Bridge target on his way to the Italian capital.

Serie A side AS Roma have agreed a £14.3m deal to sign Man City forward Edin Dzeko according to La Repubblica (via Goal.com).

The experienced Bosnian has struggled to retain a foothold in the Etihad Stadium side’s starting eleven with the likes of Sergio Aguero and Wilfried Bony both ahead of the former Wolfsburg man in Manuel Pellegrini’s pecking order.

Chelsea had previously shown an interest in the 29-year-old (via the Daily Mirror) though arguably a move to Stamford Bridge would just entail the lanky marksman swapping one bench for another.

A move to the Stadio Olimpico would enhance Dzeko’s chances of regular first team action and in truth a move away from Man City is perhaps long overdue.

Dzeko has started just 34 Premier League fixtures over the past two campaigns but his overall record of 50 goals from 74 top tier starts suggests the Man City man has what it takes to make it elsewhere.
