Reds table offer for exciting La Liga prospect.

Manchester United have reportedly made a £19m bid for Atletico Madrid’s towering young goalkeeper Jan Oblak this summer, but Spanish source AS says it has been rejected.

The Red Devils look to be searching for a replacement for David de Gea, with reports in The Sun today that Louis van Gaal wants a deal for him to move to Real Madrid to be finalised today, so that the club can focus on their pre-season preparations in the US.

Oblak’s fine form in La Liga last season saw him emerge as one of the most promising keepers in Europe, as he showed great quality and leadership to replace Thibaut Courtois as the club’s number one, following the Belgian’s return to Chelsea after a three-year loan at the Vicente Calderon.

However, the Slovenian international’s impressive displays now seem to have caught United’s eye, with AS claiming the Premier League giants have been in touch about the player, though they will have to improve on their opening bid of £19m.

Atletico will not want to lose more big players after seeing the likes of Diego Costa and Filipe Luis leave last summer, as well as Arda Turan joining La Liga rivals Barcelona this year, though under manager Diego Simeone they have shown remarkable powers of recovery and should be boosted by bringing in the likes of Jackson Martinez and Luciano Vietto this summer.
