Old Trafford side keen on Barcelona attacker.

Manchester United will look to land Barcelona attacker Pedro with the Old Trafford side set to trigger the 27-year-old’s release clause according to The Guardian.

Barcelona boss Luis Enrique opted to use Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar as his first-choice options up front and this led to Pedro playing a bit-part role at the Nou Camp.

Louis van Gaal is short of central striking options, with Robin van Persie having been sold to Fenerbahce, and the Dutchman is ready to fork out the £22m needed to meet Pedro’s buyout clause [via The Guardian].

Pedro made just 15 La Liga starts last season, and was subbed off on five occasions, but still managed to register six goals and six assists.

Though Pedro is more effective in a wide-attacking role he is more than capable of playing in a central spot and is also being pursued by Chelsea [via talkSPORT].

Louis van Gaal successfully led Man United to a top four finish in 2014/15 and has had funds to invest in his squad ahead of the 2015/16 campaign.

United have already completed the signings of Memphis Depay, Matteo Darmian, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin and will hope to make Pedro their fifth summer capture.
