Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho considering teenage star for KEY first-team role

Rather than delving into the transfer market for a replacement to Filipe Luis, Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho could be set to hand youngster Bertrand Traore a first-team role.

The Portuguese boss has revealed his expectance that the Premier League champions won’t be engaging in significant business in the summer window once the season gets underway, suggesting that they may not make a move for FC Augsburg’s Abdul Rahman Baba or Tottenham Hotspur‘s Danny Rose this month.

However, with currently no back-up to Cesar Azpilicueta, the Blues are in need of a left-back.

The Express claim that Mourinho is considering using attacking midfielder Traore – who can also play in defence – as substitute to Azpilicueta.

The 19-year-old started in Chelsea’s first game of pre-season against New York Red Bulls and in Wednesday’s night defeat to Fiorentina – on both occasions in midfield – and could be set for increased involvement in the west London giants’ title-defending campaign.
