The Argentine’s departure leaves Arsene Wenger with only Cech and David Ospina to put between the sticks, after Wojciech Szczesny went on loan to AS Roma. This could be seen as a risk after the former’s mistakes on his debut against West Ham. The North Londoners lost the match 0-2, and both of the goals they conceded can be put down to the 33-year-old making an error.
Up next for Arsenal are Crystal Palace and Liverpool, and supporters will be hoping that Cech finds his form in those encounters. If he doesn’t, then this and Szczesny’s departures could be seen as mistakes from Wenger in a season in which they are meant to challenge Chelsea for the Premier League title.
