West Ham co-owner’s son: We are NOT signing Joey Barton [Twitter]

Jack Sullivan, the son of West Ham United co-owner David Sullivan, has taken to Twitter to apparently deny that the Hammers are closing in on move to sign Joey Barton.

The midfielder was released by Queens Park Rangers at the end of last season after tasting relegation with the Hoops, and appears set to be unveiled as a West Ham player imminently.

However, Sullivan jr has taken to Twitter to issue the following statement about the transfer.

He has track record for controversial outbursts, having previously used social media to poke fun at the relegation of the Irons’ rivals Millwall upon their relegation to League One.

It remains to be seen whether Sullivan has insider knowledge that goes against the considerable reports linking Barton with a move to join Slaven Bilic’s troops, or whether he is merely expressing his desire not to see the controversial former Newcastle United and Manchester City man move to East London.
