After reportedly being turned down numerous times by Everton in transfer bids for star defender John Stones, Chelsea appear ready to launch a brand new campaign to bring the Toffees star to Stamford Bridge.
According to the Metro, Chelsea are back in the hunt for Stones with Jose Mourinho placing the 21-year-old star high on his transfer list this January. The source previously noted that Everton had turned down offers as large as £40 million for the club’s top defender.
Chelsea have not been getting the performance they need out of veteran John Terry nor Branislav Ivanovich, and it’s led the team to one of the worst defenses in the league and the 16th place on the table.
Everton are going to be hard-pressed to keep their entire team together this January with Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus expected to make a major run at star Romelu Lukaku. The club currently ranks 9th on the table.
