England Lingard: Seven English strikers who should have been called up BEFORE Manchester United wonderkid

Posted by

Roy Hodgson made the curious decision of naming Manchester United striker Jesse Lingard as the replacement for Jamie Vardy on Sunday.

Vardy—arguably the Premier League’s in-form player at the moment—has scored 12 goals in his last 12 games, becoming the only player to achieve such a feat in the EPL, but will not be present for Tuesday’s friendly against France after being ruled out through injury.

He has been replaced by Lingard, despite the youngster only having scored one Premier League goal this season.

Lingard is an exciting talent and could well be an England player of the future, but is he ready to make an impact with the Three Lions now?
