Chelsea are said to be preparing to do battle with Premier League rivals Manchester City for the signature of highly sought-after Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann, according to Italian publication Calciomercato.
The Blues are desperate to add more quality to their forward line in the new year, and as such are said to be desperate to add the France international to their ranks.
However, title chasers City are also credited with a heavy interest in his signature, and are prepared to go up against the Londoners in a race to bring him to the Premier League.
The report states that both clubs are lining up offers to sign him in the new year.
Griezmann has already notched up five goals in La Liga this season, and is thought to be one of the most sought-after forwards in Europe right now.
However, whoever wants to sign him will have to stump up £31.5million to prize him away from the Vicente Calderon.
