Tottenham to offer contracts to international trio

Tottenham Hotspur are understood to be planning contract talks with Belgian trio Jan Vertonghen, Nacer Chadli and Mousa Dembele as they look to tie the three players down to long-term deals.

According to the Telegraph, Spurs are looking to offer long-term extensions to both Vertonghen and Chadli—whose current deals end in 2018—as well as Dembele, who only has 18 months to run on his current deal.

Clearly the news is part of a longer-term policy on the part of the Lilywhites to ensure the future of the key men in the squad.

Both Dele Alli and Harry Kane are currently in talks with club management about extending their deals with the club, according to the Telegraph, as Mauricio Pochettino looks to keep the core of his side together and demonstrate Tottenham’s ambition.

Vertonghen has shone alongside compatriot Toby Alderweireld in the heart of the defence this season, and while Chadi is currently out of the side due to injury, having picked up an ankle knock in mid-October.

The wideman is expected back in time for the Christmas programme.

28-year-old Dembele hasn’t always had it easy at White Hart Lane, but he has been one of the side’s star men this term and Pochettino clearly feels he’s deserving of a new deal.
