Tottenham suffer transfer blow as Serie A outfit rule out €30m move

Tottenham are unlikely to sign Sassuolo striker Domenico Berardi after his coach, Eusebio Di Francesco, dismissed rumours of an exit.

The Neroverdi striker had been linked with a €30m move to White Hart Lane, although Juventus were expected to provide stiff competition for Mauricio Pochettino’s men.

However, while the Italian international is currently in London, Di Francesco has explained the situation and assured supporters that Berardi isn’t going anywhere just yet.

“Berardi to Tottenham? The club told me the opposite. He went to London, that’s true, but only on holiday. I talked to the lad, and he said absolutely not,” he told Sky Sport Italia, as reported by Football Italia.

“So I’m comfortable from that point of view, even though surprises are always around the corner in football and we can always be proved wrong.”

The 21-year-old hasn’t been in the best of form so far this season as injuries and suspension have disrupted his bid to gain match sharpness.

Berardi has just two goals and two assists in 10 Serie A appearances, but he will undoubtedly be hoping to find his way in 2016 with the benefit of having the winter break to work on his fitness with a view of helping Sassuolo secure a place in Europe for next season.
