Former Dortmund star rejects Liverpool move in favour of Bundesliga stay

Former Borussia Dortmund midfielder Kevin Grosskreutz has reportedly turned down the chance to reunite with manager Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool as he stands on the brink of joining German giants Stuttgart instead, according to the Daily Star.

Grosskreutz joined Turkish side Galatasaray last year, but thanks to a rule breach he has been unable to feature for his new club, and that error has seen him hand in a transfer request in order to get back to his career elsewhere.

Klopp enjoyed a good relationship with the 27-year-old during their time together at Dortmund, and had been hoping to reunite with the winger at Anfield this season.

But it now seems that the former Bundesliga winner would rather head back home than test himself in the heights of the Premier League as he closes in on a move to Stuttgart.

The news will now mean that Klopp will have to look elsewhere for new recruits in his bid to get Liverpool into the top four.
