Flop defender set for early Chelsea exit as Stuttgart make transfer approach

Chelsea defender Papy Djilobodji could be set to end his short and bizarre spell at the club as Bundesliga giants Stuttgart reportedly lineup a move, according to French publication L’Equipe.

The 26-year-old joined the Blues on transfer deadline day over the summer, but then manager Jose Mourinho distanced himself from the signing by saying that the idea to bring the player on board was not his idea.

And because of that, the Senegalese international has not settled into Premier League life, and has failed to start any league games since making the move to west London.

He had previously been linked with a move to Turkish giants Besiktas, but it now seems that the German side are in the driving seat.

His spell at the club won’t be looked at as a memorable one should he depart, and many will even wonder what he was doing there to begin with.
