Liverpool considering transfer swoop for €20m La Liga forward scouted by Arsenal

Liverpool are understood to be weighing up a move to sign Athletic Club forward Inaki Williams during the January transfer window.

According to the Mirror, Jurgen Klopp is keeping tabs on the Spanish-Ghanaian striker, and is considering a move to bring the 21-year-old to Anfield before the end of the transfer window.

As noted by the report, a series of problems have left Liverpool with something of a muted strikeforce this season, and the Reds have only scored 25 goals in the Premier League to date. That’s over ten goals less than top three Arsenal, Leicester City and Manchester City, and nine fewer than Tottenham Hotspur in fourth.

The likes of Daniel Sturridge, Divock Origi and Danny Ings have all been ruled out for spells, while the Mirror [as above] argue that Christian Benteke is ‘yet to convince’ after moving from Aston Villa in a big-money, high-profile deal during the summer.

The Guardian have reported that the forward has a €20 million release clause in his contract, and note that Arsenal, Tottenham, Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid have all also sent scouts to watch the attacker.

Williams is still learning his trade, and remains a raw talent, but he’s already demonstrated his class in the Spanish top flight with six goals in 14 La Liga outings so far this season.

The forward, who can play on either flank, also showed off his technical quality with a wondergoal against Espanyol in November [as per Sky Sports].
