Manchester United started February five points behind Tottenham Hotspur, who occupy fourth place in the Premier League table, so the Red Devils need to get a win under their belt when they host Stoke City in the Premier League on Tuesday evening.

With Louis van Gaal under pressure to deliver three points, this is the team we expect the Dutchman will start with at Old Trafford.

Injury news

Antonio Valencia, Luke Shaw, Ashley Young and Marcos Rojo are all out for United.

Charlie Adam is sidelined for Stoke, while captain Ryan Shawcross is also likely to miss this one.

Form

United have won four of their last six games in all competitions, but they lost their last home match 1-0 to Southampton.

Meanwhile, Stoke form reads WWDLWL. The Potters have failed to score in three of those six games, though.

Head to head

Stoke won the reverse fixture 2-0 at the Britannia Stadium on Boxing Day, but United have been victorious in their last 12 meetings at Old Trafford.

Predictions

Sky Sports joker Paul Merson is taking United 2-1, while our very own Rob Summerscales have gone for 2-2.
