Man City given Paul Pogba boost as financial restrictions stop Barca from launching £82m offer

Manchester City have been given a huge boost in their hopes of landing a world record deal for Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba after Barcelona apparently ruled themselves out of the running to land his signature, the Daily Mirror reports.

The Catalan giants had agreed an ‘outline agreement’ with Juve over the France international that would have allowed them to snap him up this summer for a whopping structured deal that would have amounted up to over £85million.

However, after becoming increasingly aware of their own financial restrictions, they have since told the Serie A giants that they will be pulling themselves out of the race for his signature.

Barca chiefs are instead preparing to search for a new young centre-back with the report claiming that Everton’s John Stones is amongst the targets.

Paris Saint-Germain’s Marquinhos and Aymeric Laporte of Athletic Bilbao are also thought to be being considered.
