Everton ready to rescue Asmir Begovic from Chelsea with £8m offer

Everton are believed to be ready to launch an £8million offer to sign Chelsea goalkeeper Asmir Begovic at the end of the season, according to The Sun.

Despite getting an extended run in the first team earlier this season in Thibaut Courtois’ absence, he has been left frustrated at being left on the bench recently and the Toffees are eager to offer him an escape route.

With Tim Howard now in the twilight of his career, Everton are keen to splash out on an £8million fee to bring the Bosnian international in as a replacement.

It is believed that Howard will be heading back to Major League Soccer at the end of the year and is expected to link up with the Colorado Rapids, meaning Everton will be in the market for a new custodian.

And with Begovic having made just one appearance since Guus Hiddink took over, it seems unlikely that he’ll get too many opportunities between now and the end of the campaign.
