Video: Bayer Leverkusen 3-0 Wolfsburg – Chicharito bags another with Champions League berth on the line

Bayer 04 Leverkusen got a big boost in their quest for a Champions League berth thanks to – who else? – their star striker Javier Hernandez (aka Chicharito), who scored a goal and added an assist as the club got a 3-0 win over Wolfsburg.

It took over 25 minutes for the hosts to get on the board, with Julian Brandt scoring the first goal at the 27′ mark. Bayer’s defence held strong for the duration of the game, but the moment Chicharito was subbed in at the 61′ mark, it pretty much spelled the end of any Wolfsburg comeback hopes.

At the 73′ mark, Chicharito pulled off one of the most incredible shots of the season, curling the ball and smashing the post, deflecting the shot in past Diego Benaglio for the 2-0 score.

Though the game was essentially done at that point, Chicarito was not, adding an assist to Vladlen Yurchenko to seal a 3-0 win.

The victory moved Bayer Leverkusen into fourth place as the 28th Gameweek of Bundesliga gets underway, and into qualification for the Champions League should the standings remain the same after the weekend.
