Liverpool hoping for chance to swap £16m flop for Lazio star

One man’s trash is another man’s treasure and Mario Balotelli was certainly trash for Liverpool in his lone campaign for the Reds last season. The Italian striker has hardly been more effective for AC Milan this year, yet his potential alone has still garnered interest from clubs – and Liverpool may be able to recoup their losses as a result.

Per Calciomercatoweb, Liverpool are trying to convince Lazio to accept Balotelli’s contract in exchange for veteran defender Lucas Biglia in a swap deal. The 30-year-old Argentine has four goals and three assists in Serie A this season.

The Reds would likely need to throw in a lot of cash as well though as the Serie A giants are not keen on parting with their defensive midfielder so easily.

Balotelli scored just one goal in 16 Premier League appearances for Liverpool in the 2014-15 season, and four goals in 28 total games that year. He got loaned out to Milan prior to the start of the 2015-16 season but has just one goal in Serie A this season.
