Chelsea willing to meet €45m price-tag for Serie A ace

According to reports in Italy, Chelsea are set to raise their bid for Roma midfielder Radja Nainggolan and offer €45m to sign him this summer.

Given speculation has linked the Belgian international with a move to Stamford Bridge for months now, it’s no secret that Antonio Conte is desperate to take him to England with him later this summer.

While Chelsea’s attempts at signing him have fallen short thus far, Mediaset Premium, as noted in their tweet below, have reported that Chelsea are now prepared to step up their efforts and offer the €45m fee that Roma are seeking.

It would be a significant blow for the Giallorossi if they were to lose Nainggolan, with the combative midfield ace becoming a key part of the line-up over the past 12 months or so.

Further, having played a big role for Luciano Spalletti since his return to the capital club in January, the Italian coach will be disappointed to lose him if he indeed now goes on to complete a move to Chelsea with Roma likely to struggle to be able to reject such a substantial bid.

As noted by The Express, Miralem Pjanic is also said to be closing in on an exit from Roma, which in turn would decimate their midfield and leave them looking particularly vulnerable ahead of next season depending on who they are able to bring in as replacements.

As for Conte and Chelsea though, it would be a welcome boost for the former Juve boss to finally land one of his primary targets, with Nainggolan seemingly made for the Premier League given his style of play and combative nature.
