£50 million price tag slapped on Manchester City target who has never won a trophy

Everton a keen to keep hold of their star defender John Stones despite Manchester City’s efforts to sign the England international.

According to the Mirror, Stones will cost City more than Raheem Sterling and will become the most expensive defender ever if he is to leave. The daily tabloid goes onto say that Everton have set a £50 million price tag on the 22-year-old.

Everton are  preparing for a bid from Manchester City as Pep Guardiola aims to bolster his defensive options ahead of next season. The Citizens have already completed the signings of Spain’s Nolito and the Germany international Ilkay Gundogan over the summer transfer window

The Mirror also states that City are preparing to table a £40 million bid for Jones as early as this weekend.

Stones joined Everton from Barnsley back in January 2013 and was an unused substitute during all of England’s games at Euro 2016. The highly rated defender  made 41 appearances for Everton in all competitions last season.
