Chelsea new boy all set to make debut as fans get first sight of how crucial he is to Antonio Conte

Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante will make his debut for the club against AC Milan in Minnesota on Wednesday night.

The former Leicester City ace made the move to Stamford Bridge last month, but had been given an additional period off after his involvement at Euro 2016 earlier this summer.

The 25-year-old has returned to pre-season training and will now line up as a Chelsea player for the first time, albeit on limited minutes with Antonio Conte looking to integrate him into the line-up ahead of their Premier League opener against West Ham United next weekend.

“Kante is in good shape and we have found him in very good condition,” he told reporters in the US. “We are now working on tactical and physical aspects.

“But he’s in good shape and against AC Milan he can play for a half or for 30 minutes.

“He’s ready and we’re very happy to see him so ready to play.”

The Premier League winner will add solidity and defensive coverage in midfield for the Blues this season, with Conte looking to add an energetic general in the middle of the park to set the tempo for his team.

The French international showed that he is more than capable of doing that same job at Stamford Bridge this season, and will be an important part of the club’s bid to improve on their disappointing 10th place finish last season.
