New Arsenal transfer target up for sale, Gunners chase Riyad Mahrez teammate with superior goal record

Arsenal have reportedly got a new transfer target in their sights after missing out on Leicester City playmaker Riyad Mahrez.

The Gunners are now eying a move for Yacine Brahimi, according to The Mirror, who claim that the Porto star is available for £40m.

New Arsenal transfer target Brahimi has also attracted the attention of Liverpool and Chelsea, claim The Sun.

Brahimi and Mahrez are international teammates with Algeria.

Mahrez was one of the leading scorers in the Premier League last season, with 17 goals, but Brahimi has a superior strike-rate in internationals.

Algeria vice-captain Brahimi has scored seven times in 28 matches for his country (an average of one goal every four games), while Mahrez has netted four times in 24 games (one every six).

Brahimi, who at 26 is one year older than Mahrez, has been a Porto player since 2014 when he signed from Granada in Spain.

The Paris-born attacking midfielder has scored 14 goals in 61 Portuguese league games.
