Arsenal’s awful contract management has cost them another big signing

Arsenal’s poor management of their stars’ contracts has once again come back to haunt them as another target has slipped through their fingers while they negotiate with their top players.

The Daily Mail are reporting that long term Arsenal target Julian Draxler is on the verge of joining PSG after his relationship with the board and fans at Wolfsburg deteriorated beyond repair.

With Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez both demanding colossal contracts, Arsenal are paralysed in the transfer market. They don’t know whether their stars will need replacing or not, nor do they know how much they will be paying them. How can they know whether or not they need Draxler if they don’t know if they will be selling Mesut Ozil this summer?

It’s yet another example of how letting these contracts wind down simultaneously has long term and damaging effects on the club.

PSG meanwhile have problems of their own after a shock 2-1 loss to Guingamp at the weekend. The French champions are in need of reinforcements, and with that much money to spend, it would have been tricky for anyone to secure one of their targets ahead of them.
