Barcelona are considering a summer move for former Newcastle winger Florian Thauvin, according to Mundo Deportivo.
Thauvin moved to St. James’ Park in the summer of 2015, but failed to establish himself as an important member of their squad. The Frenchman struggled to replicate his Marseille form in a Newcastle shirt and subsequently re-joined the Ligue 1 outfit.
The 24-year-old has been able to revive his career at Marseille. He has found the back of the net eleven times in France’s top tier so far this term, and has also provided five assists for his teammates.
His good performances for Marseille do not appear to have gone unnoticed across Europe. Mundo Deportivo report that Thauvin’s good form has seen him appear on La Liga giants Barcelona’s radar. The Spanish outlet believe that Barca could make a move to sign him in the summer transfer window
Thauvin is still a Newcastle player, it remains to be seen how much the Championship side will demand in exchange for his services.
