Arsenal set to launch surprise £32m bid, long-time target told he can leave

Arsenal are reportedly set to make a shock £32m bid for Paris Saint-Germain ace Julian Draxler as he has been informed that he can leave the French capital.

The 23-year-old will be one to suffer after the big-money arrival of Neymar, as the Brazilian international will undoubtedly eat into his playing time under Unai Emery while there talk is still rife that the French giants could yet make one more major splash in the transfer market this summer.

According to The Times, Arsenal could now make another move for the German playmaker as he has been a long-time target for Arsene Wenger, with a £32m bid being touted.

Draxler enjoyed a decent start to life in France after his move in January from Wolfsburg, scoring four goals and providing two assists in 17 Ligue 1 appearances.

However, it’s claimed in the report that the Neymar signing isn’t his only problem, as he has already fallen out with Emery which in turn has alerted Arsenal to the situation.

Whether the Gunners really need another attacking player is up for debate as Wenger has a whole host of options at his disposal already, while the focus seems to be on offloading players and controlling the wage bill between now and the end of the transfer window.

Nevertheless, this could perhaps be more of an opportunistic signing than anything, as if Draxler is looking for a way out of PSG and they’re willing to listen to offers, then perhaps it’s a move that Arsenal can’t ignore and will push to bolster their squad further.

There’s no denying his quality as he’s impressed for club and country for a number of years now, but question marks arguably have to be raised about his personality as this isn’t the first report about possible trouble off the pitch.
