Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has been given a boost ahead of his side’s match against Chelsea this weekend after the Reds boss confirmed that defender Joel Matip could return from injury in time.
This is according to the Metro, who state that the Cameroon international has missed his previous two games for the Merseyside club, however there is a “big chance” that the player will play a part in the match, according to boss Klopp.
Speaking about the player’s possible return to Liverpool’s first team, Klopp said “He is in Liverpool and full training, so all good. I think there will be a big chance he will be ready for Saturday.”
Since his arrival on Merseyside from Schalke, the player has managed to impress the Anfield faithful with his fantastic defensive ability.
The Cameroonian has managed to make 49 appearances for Jurgen Klopp’s side, with the centre-back managing to score two goals in that time as well.
Matip’s ability on the ball and aerial prowess have seen him quickly become a fan favourite at Liverpool, with it being obvious how much the Merseyside club miss the player when he’s not in the starting eleven.
