Man Utd defender Luke Shaw hasn’t played a great deal of football so far this season, but he’s got his first Premier League start of the campaign against Bournemouth on Wednesday night.
The 22-year-old has made just seven appearances in all competitions, totalling a measly 465 minutes of football, with Jose Mourinho seemingly not willing to show a great deal of faith in him.
However, the England international has got the perfect opportunity to prove his worth to the Portuguese tactician, as he is in the line-up to take on the Cherries as United look to bounce back from their Manchester derby disappointment at the weekend.
It’s also a surprise to see Scott McTominay get the nod from Mourinho, but with a busy fixture schedule coming up over the festive period, he’s evidently prepared to make use of a deep squad and rotate to offer others a rest with games against West Bromwich Albion, Bristol City, Leicester City and Burnley coming up in the space of 10 days.
Nevertheless, it’s the decision to start Shaw which seemingly has the Man Utd faithful talking on Twitter, as seen in the comments below. While some are more than likely being sarcastic or overly supportive of the left-back given his misery at Old Trafford in recent times with injuries and poor form, they’re certainly excited to see what he can do now he’s playing…

I’m loving the fact that Luke Shaw is starting. It’s another chance for him to consolidate his place as the number one left back at our club when fit and on-form.
