Chelsea have reportedly made an opening offer to Bayern Munich worth around £33million to seal the transfer of midfielder Arturo Vidal.
However, it is unlikely to be enough as Bayern want a great deal more than that – close to £53m, according to journalist Pipe Sierra via Twitter.
Vidal has been one of the top midfield players in Europe in recent times, shining for Bayern and also at former club Juventus under the management of current Chelsea boss Antonio Conte.

Conte could do with more options in the middle of the park at the moment after losing Nemanja Matic to Manchester United in the summer, and with new signings Tiemoue Bakayoko and Danny Drinkwater failing to impress on a consistent basis.

Vidal looks like he’d be a significant upgrade in that part of the pitch, and Conte himself has been full of praise for the Chilean in the past.
‘Arturo is a fantastic player,’ the Italian was recently quoted in the Independent. ‘I have a great respect for Arturo, and we spent many years in Juventus together. I would always want him to go to war with me.’
