Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is eager to complete a late January transfer window deal for Inter Milan striker and rumoured Arsenal target Mauro Icardi, according to Don Balon.
The Argentina international has had a fine season in Serie A so far, becoming established as one of Europe’s most clinical forwards, and there’s no doubt he could add plenty to this Madrid side.
Real have not been at their best this term due to the struggles in front of goal of big names like Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema, and Icardi could be a useful addition to solve those problems.
Gianluca Di Marzio also linked the 24-year-old as a target for Arsenal, who have lost Alexis Sanchez to Manchester United this January and also seen Alexandre Lacazette struggle to hit top form in the Premier League.
Still, it could be that a late move to Madrid is on the cards as Don Balon suggest Perez is ready to pay big to bring Icardi to the Bernabeu before tomorrow’s transfer deadline.
Los Blancos fans would dearly love to see a big name like Icardi arrive this January after their disappointing season so far, with fresh blood clearly needed to boost their hopes for the second half of this campaign and for the future.
