£45m Arsenal target drops major hint over sealing summer transfer

Arsenal could be in luck as Bordeaux forward Malcom has admitted he wanted a transfer away from the club in January before hinting he’ll look to get that move in the summer.

The Guardian linked Arsenal with a £45million move for the exciting young Brazilian this winter, though a deal never materialised on this occasion.

Arsenal were in the market for attacking players as Alexis Sanchez made the switch to rivals Manchester United, though they ended up bringing in Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang instead of Malcom.

Still, the 20-year-old apparently still has his heart set on a move away from the Ligue 1 side as he dropped a pretty big hint over his future in an interview with Telefoot.

French football writer Robin Bairner translated Malcom’s quotes on his Twitter page, with the youngster strongly hinting he will only be at Bordeaux until the summer after admitting he wanted to be granted his move this winter.

‘I wanted to leave in January. That’s the truth. But Bordeaux can count on me until the end of the season,’ he said.

Of course, it might not be at Arsenal that Malcom ends up, but with the north London giants seemingly one of the main clubs following him during January, there could be every chance they’ll revive that interest again ahead of next season.

While Arsene Wenger did succeed in bringing in alternative targets in attack, the club could still be short after losing Alexis Sanchez, Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott all in the same transfer window.
