Double raid: Real Madrid tipped to launch €225m move for Chelsea duo

Real Madrid have had a disruptive summer thus far, but reports claim that they could try to land Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois from Chelsea in a €225m swoop.

After Zinedine Zidane departed the Bernabeu and was duly replaced by Julen Lopetegui, Los Blancos suffered a huge blow as Cristiano Ronaldo secured a move to Juventus.

With that in mind, it raises question marks over their ability to sustain the impressive level of success that they’ve enjoyed in recent years which includes three consecutive Champions League triumphs, with the Portuguese superstar an instrumental part of that.

In turn, the Madrid hierarchy will surely be considering a marquee addition to the squad this summer to boost Lopetegui’s chances of being successful, and that could reportedly come in the form of a double raid on Chelsea for two influential stars.

According to Sport, via Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws, they will launch a €225m bid to sign both Hazard and Courtois, bringing the Belgian pair in to strengthen the squad at either end of the pitch.

The Hazard signing would make sense to fill the void left behind by Ronaldo, but swooping for Courtois would seem harsh on Keylor Navas who has been the No.1 choice for Real Madrid through their successful run.

Nevertheless, should they have an opportunity to sign a goalkeeper of the quality of Courtois who has established himself as one of the best in Europe, then perhaps it’s logical that they would try their luck and attempt to sign the Belgian pair.

From a Chelsea perspective though it would be a disaster for new boss Maurizio Sarri, as he’d be losing two players who have been fundamental to the Blues and their own success over the past three years. In turn, it remains to be seen if the Blues are willing to accept the reported offer.
