Barcelona eyeing transfer of €30M World Cup star who would provide competition for Ousmane Dembele

Barcelona are eyeing up a move for Mexico and PSV star Hirving Lozano this summer, a player that would provide competition for current Barca star Ousmane Dembele.

This is according to Don Balon, who are stating that the Blaugrana are eyeing up Lozano as an alternative signing to Chelsea duo Willian and Eden Hazard, and that the player could be available for a price of around €30M.

The same report states that Dembele is going to find it ‘more complicated’ at Barca next season, something that will definitely happen if Lozano ends up joining from PSV.

Lozano is being eyed up by Barca, he signing would provide good competition for Dembele

Lozano was absolutely superb for Mexico during this summer’s World Cup, with the winger playing a big part in his side reaching the round of 16.

The forward’s fantastic display against Germany was one of the main reasons why Mexico were able to beat the 2014 champions.

Dembele, on the other hand, struggled with France at the tournament, which is fitting considering how he performed with Barcelona during the regular season.

The Frenchman was plagued with injuries last year, as he only managed to clock up a handful of goals and assists in all competitions for Ernesto Valverde’s side.

Lozano moving to the Camp Nou would be great news for all except Dembele, as it would surely mean his place in the club’s starting line-up would be under threat.

The two stars both play as forwards and are both capable of playing on either side of the pitch, and should Lozano sign and impress in the early days of his time with the club, Dembele may find it hard to cement a place in the club’s first XI this season
