Man United have reportedly made contact with Barcelona over a deal for Colombian international Yerry Mina, according to respected journalist Tancredi Palmeri.

Palmeri, who represents BeIN Sports, tweeted this information out on Saturday lunchtime, news that we’re sure United fans will be happy to hear.

Don Balon have noted very recently that Barcelona have set an asking price of £22M (€25M) on the head of Mina, a fair price considering how well the defender performed at the World Cup this summer.

Mina was one of Colombia’s key performers in Russia this summer, with the player bagging three big goals for his side as helped them reach the round of 16.

The Barca star scored pivotal goals against both Senegal and England as his nation were eventually knocked out on penalties by Gareth Southgate’s side.

Mina’s displays for the Blaugrana didn’t fill fans at the Nou Camp with confidence last season, with his constant nervousness on the ball being one of the main reasons why fans didn’t take to the player.

Since his switch from Palmeiras in January, Mina failed to impress fans with his displays for Ernesto Valverde’s side, something that saw him seriously struggle to claim a place in their starting XI.

Mina would be a somewhat decent signing for Man United, however Jose Mourinho’s side will surely need other signings at the back to help them topple Man City this season.
