Chelsea are reportedly looking into signing either Jan Oblak or Kevin Trapp to replace Thibaut Courtois as they expect to lose him to Real Madrid.

This is according to the Daily Star, who suggest it is still anticipated that the Belgium international will get his move to the Bernabeu, though one top target, Pickford, is in talks over a new contract with Everton.

This has supposedly got Chelsea ‘investigating’ potential signings of Oblak from Atletico Madrid or Trapp from PSG, both of whom could make fine alternatives.

Although Pickford had an outstanding World Cup with England, Oblak in particular is arguably a far more proven ‘keeper at the highest level.

The 25-year-old is an immensely gifted shot-stopper, and has done the business in the big games with Atletico in La Liga, the Champions League, and the Europa League.

The Slovenia international could be ideal to replace Courtois at Chelsea, but the Blues are certainly running out of time to solve their goalkeeping situation as the Premier League transfer window is due to close on the 9th of August.

CFC could in theory still sell Courtois to a foreign club after that date, but would be unable to sign a replacement until January.
