Barcelona are reportedly on the verge of securing a deal to sign midfielder Arturo Vidal from Bayern Munich.

The Catalan giants saw Paulinho leave for a return to Guangzhou Evergrande earlier this summer, as reported by The Guardian, which leaves a hole in their midfield.

Coupled with the departure of Andres Iniesta, albeit they signed Arthur to bolster Ernesto Valverde’s options, the reigning La Liga champions arguably still lack the tenacity, combativeness and energy that Paulinho provided ahead of the new campaign.

In turn, they’ve been heavily linked with a move Vidal, with Sport claiming that they were close to securing a deal for the Chilean international worth around €30m.

It would appear as though the situation has advanced since, with respected Italian journalists Gianluca Di Marzio and Fabrizio Romano both claiming that an agreement has been reached on the deal between the two clubs and so now it will progress to talks over personal terms, as per their tweets below.

Should he now complete a move to the Nou Camp as expected, Vidal, 31, will bring leadership, experience and a winning pedigree to Barcelona given his previous success at the likes of Juventus and Bayern.

The midfield stalwart has won seven league titles in Italy and Germany in his career, and the quality that he brings to the midfield could now help him add one in Spain to his collection too.

Barcelona are coming off the back of a season in which they did a domestic double, but now with the signings of Clement Lenglet, Arthur, Malcom and potentially Vidal, they’ll hope that they’ve added the required quality and depth to launch an assault both at home and in Europe in the upcoming campaign.
