Chelsea star closer to sealing Real Madrid transfer after Maurizio Sarri meeting

Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has reportedly held talks with manager Maurizio Sarri and told him he wants a transfer away.

This is the latest from ESPN, which, as they state, follows Sarri’s suggestion after the Community Shield that he would seek to talk to the player first before deciding on his future, and the hint that he didn’t want to keep him if he didn’t want to stay.

Courtois has been linked with Real Madrid for much of the summer, with ESPN noting that the Belgium international wants to be closer to his family.

The 26-year-old spent three seasons on loan in the Spanish capital with Atletico Madrid earlier in his career before becoming Chelsea no.1

In a major blow to the Blues and to their new manager in particular, it now looks as though he’s heading for the Stamford Bridge exit.

Thibaut Courtois doesn’t have long to get his transfer to Real Madrid

ESPN claim Chelsea now look prepared to cash in on Courtois following this message from the player to Sarri.

However, Chelsea don’t have a lot of time to sign a top class replacement, with the transfer window closing on Thursday.

The Daily Mail has previously linked CFC with interest in Kasper Schmeichel and Jordan Pickford as potential replacements for Courtois.
