Chelsea confirm another player has followed Michy Batshuayi out 23 hours after the transfer deadline

Chelsea have finally confirmed that defender Kurt Zouma has left the club for a season-long loan to Everton – 23 hours after the transfer deadline passed.

The Blues have just posted the news on their official site, with Zouma looking a promising signing for Everton on a temporary basis, joining a flurry of other big names in arriving at Goodison Park this summer.

The Toffees were busy late on yesterday, signing Brazilian winger Bernard and sealing a double raid on Barcelona for Yerry Mina and Andre Gomes, the latter of whom has also joined on loan.

Zouma spent last season at Stoke City after failing to gain regular playing time with Chelsea, and it seems he still doesn’t remain in the club’s plans for any time soon.

This temporary move away again could provide CFC with an opportunity to put Zouma in the shop window to a certain degree, unless he particularly impresses with Everton and can come back to fight for his place in west London.

It looks a long way back for him, however, and it remains to be seen if he’d even necessarily be first choice for Everton given the strong look of their squad this season.

This news came shortly after it was also confirmed that Michy Batshuayi was leaving Chelsea for a loan to Valencia.

Quite why Chelsea are ditching useful squad players today – after the deadline passed for them to replace them – seems a bit beyond us, but never mind.
