Video: ‘We’re still Rocky Balboa’ – Jurgen Klopp’s unique take on Liverpool title challenge

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has produced a memorable analogy to describe how he sees his club’s title chances against Man City this season.

The Reds have significantly strengthened their squad this summer, with the likes of Alisson, Fabinho, Naby Keita and Xherdan Shaqiri all joining the club.

In turn, having finished in the top four last season as well as enjoying a run to the Champions League final, there will be confidence that they can now build on that and really begin to compete on all fronts for major honours.

However, Klopp isn’t changing his mentality as he respects how strong City remain given that they didn’t lose any of the influential figures from their title-winning squad last season and have added Riyad Mahrez from Leicester City over the summer.

In his own unique style though, the German tactician has compared Liverpool to Rocky Balboa, as seen below, in terms of the attitude that they need to adopt to topple the champions this season. Never change, Jurgen…

“City – the champions – have not lost a player and brought in [Riyad] Mahrez,” he said, as seen in the video below. “They were impressive against Chelsea, both sides were. We are still Rocky Balboa and not Ivan Drago.

“We need to want more and fight more. That must be our attitude.”
