Manchester United first-teamer eager to seal transfer away in coming days

Italian defender Matteo Darmian looks to be on the way out of Old Trafford with a move back to Serie A on the cards for the full-back, who has struggled to make an impact since joining United from Torino in the summer of 2015.

Chief Manchester United writer Samuel Lockhurst broke the news a short while ago:

Darmian has only managed to make 55 Premier League appearances for the Red Devils since joining, with the bulk of those appearances coming in his debut season under Louis Van Gaal’s reign, which came to an end after the 2015/16 season finished.

The former Torino man didn’t make a good case to stay at Old Trafford after an uninspiring performance in United’s season opener against Leicester on Friday night.

With the defender deemed to be very much out of his depth during his time in the Premier League, a move back to Serie A before the league’s transfer window closes on Friday may be needed in order to rejuvenate the Italy international’s career.
