Real Madrid could be set to see Luka Modric remain at the club this summer due to Spurs slapping a €200M asking price on the head of midfielder Christian Eriksen.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Inter Milan are still interested in bringing the Croatian to the San Siro this summer, and that Real themselves are keen on signing Eriksen from Spurs.

However, the report notes that Spurs have a €200M asking price for the Danish international, one that they say is too high for Real president Florentino Perez, and that without getting in a replacement, selling Modric would be an unimaginable scenario.

Modric could stay in the Spanish capital this year due to Spurs’ asking price for Eriksen

Real paying €200M for Eriksen wouldn’t be a wise move at all, especially when you consider the club still have stars like Toni Kroos, Isco, Dani Ceballos and Mateo Kovacic on their books.

This news will be great to hear from a Real Madrid fans’ point of view, as Modric has proven to be one of their key stars in the past few years.

The player’s partnership with Kroos, as well as his all-round play, has been pivotal to Madrid winning a whole host of silverware these past few seasons.

Losing Modric would be a huge blow, and signing Eriksen wouldn’t be enough to fill the void that the Croat would leave at the Santiago Bernabeu.

However, this doesn’t look it’s going to happen, especially if this report from Di Marzio is anything to go by.

Happy days, Madrid fans!
