Real Madrid plot €70m swoop to bolster Julen Lopetegui’s attacking options

Real Madrid could reportedly be set for a big-money signing as it’s claimed that they will launch a €70m bid for Valencia forward Rodrigo Moreno.

The reigning European champions have yet to fill the void left behind by Cristiano Ronaldo after his move to Juventus earlier this summer.

While Julen Lopetegui is seemingly set to hand additional responsibility to those already at his disposal including the likes of Gareth Bale, Isco and Marco Asensio, it’s up for debate as to whether that will be enough to help them overcome the loss of their former talisman and to continue to fight for major trophies.

According to Don Balon, they may well look to make a signing before the August 31 deadline, as they’ve been linked with a €70m swoop for Rodrigo.

The 27-year-old is coming off the back of a season in which he bagged 19 goals in 44 games for Valencia, while he has two goals in nine caps for Spain.

Nevertheless, he does have an underwhelming record overall in La Liga, scoring just 26 goals and providing 18 assists in 112 outings.

With that in mind, it’s questionable as to whether it really is that sensible of a move from Real Madrid especially with the money being touted, but it’s claimed by Don Balon that Lopetegui is keen on him and that Valencia may well demand €90m for their forward.

In turn, it remains to be seen whether or not an agreement can be reached, but it’s worth noting that this isn’t the first time that Rodrigo has been linked with a move to the Bernabeu this summer.

As reported by AS last month, it was claimed then that Lopetegui wanted to take Rodrigo to the Spanish capital, and so with just a couple of weeks remaining before the transfer deadline in Spain, time will tell as to whether the Spanish tactician will get his man.
