Transfer news: 19-year-old future star confirms loan move away from Real Madrid

Real Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin has completed a loan move to fellow La Liga outfit Leganes after arriving at the Santiago Bernabeu this summer.

The 19-year-old shot-stopper had looked set to compete for the number three spot in Julen Lopetegui’s squad this season with Luca Zidane, behind Keylor Navas and current number one Thibaut Courtois, who was signed from Chelsea during the transfer window.

The Ukrainian began his career with Dnipro in his homeland, before being sold to Zorya Luhansk, where he managed to make 29 first team appearances last season. His performances earned him a dream move to Spain this summer, as Real Madrid successfully negotiated a €8.5 million deal with Zorya for his services – as per ESPN.

According to ESPN, Los Blancos have now allowed the future star to complete a loan move to Leganes today, which will see him work under Mauricio Pellegrino for the rest of the season.

Real Madrid has made a strong start to the 2018-19 campaign, winning back to back games against Getafe and Girona, which has left them pushing at the top of the table with fierce rivals Barcelona in the early stages of the new season.

It may be a long time before Andriy Lunin makes his mark at the Bernabeu but if he can impress for Leganes over the next 12 months he could well return to the club next season in a position to challenge for a regular spot place in the squad for matchdays, despite his tender age.
