Liverpool ace confirms transfer on Twitter with message to fans

Liverpool youngster Sheyi Ojo has confirmed via Twitter that he’s off to Stade de Reims for a season-long loan transfer.

The Reds attacker says he’s got his serious face on and is prepared to go hard this year as he looks to improve after a difficult few years out in the wilderness at Anfield.

Despite long being rated as one of the club’s most exciting youth prospects, Ojo has been unable to repeat the success of players like Trent Alexander-Arnold in making the step up from the academy to the senior team.

The 21-year-old has previously had loan spells with Wigan, Wolves and Fulham, but looks no closer to a breakthrough into Jurgen Klopp’s side, which, in fairness has changed a lot in the last couple of seasons.

The German tactician has overseen a superb rebuilding process at the Merseyside giants, putting together one of the best attacking units in Europe.

With Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino to compete with, as well as summer signing Xherdan Shaqiri, it does seem like an uphill battle for Ojo to get a look-in in the first-team.

Like a growing number of young English players, the winger now looks set to try his luck abroad to continue his development, as have the likes of Marcus McGuane and Jadon Sancho.
