Manchester United reportedly have one crucial edge over rivals Manchester City in any transfer battle for Ruben Neves this January.

The young Portuguese star has been linked strongly with a move away from Wolves in the near future after shining in the Championship last season and also making a great start to life in the Premier League this term.

Long regarded as one of the top young midfielders in Europe, Neves’ move to Wolves in the first place was something of a surprise, but he may now have earned himself a switch to a bigger club in England.

It looks like it’ll be between United and City for the £60million-rated starlet this January, with ESPN claiming Jose Mourinho’s connections with his agent Jorge Mendes give the Red Devils a major edge.

This could be a superb signing for United if they pull it off, with Neves an ideal alternative to some of the club’s summer targets like Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Ivan Rakitic.

The 21-year-old could also prove a fine replacement for Paul Pogba as he continues to be linked strongly with a transfer to Barcelona this season.
