Chelsea cleared to clinch smart £30million transfer by January 14th

Chelsea have reportedly been told they can sign Mats Hummels as long as they pay £30million to Bayern Munich by the 14th of January.

The Blues could do with bringing in a top class, experienced centre-back after an inconsistent start to the season, with David Luiz looking unconvincing and Gary Cahill no longer a first-team regular under Maurizio Sarri.

Hummels has shone for Bayern and Borussia Dortmund in his career in the Bundesliga and seems an ideal option, and it seems he is going to be made available next month for a pretty reasonable fee.

The Germany international is no longer a guaranteed starter at Bayern and Bayern say he can leave in January as long as Chelsea cough up £30million by the 14th, according to the Sun.

There seems no reason for CFC not to get this deal done quickly after being told precisely how much to pay and when to get things sorted by.

This seems a perfectly affordable deal for a club of their size and one that could be crucial to improving their fortunes in the second half of the season.
