Arsenal boss Unai Emery has delivered mixed news on injured defensive trio Laurent Koscielny, Sokratis and Dinos Mavropanos.

The Gunners will be looking to bounce back from their defeat to Manchester United in the FA Cup on Friday, as Emery’s side face Cardiff City at the Emirates on Tuesday night.

Emery was rocked by a double defensive injury blow last time out, with both Koscielny and Sokratis forced off the pitch with facial and ankle injuries respectively.

Speaking in his press conference on Monday, the Spanish tactician has revealed that Koscielny won’t recover in time to face Cardiff, but there was good news on Sokratis as he offered a quicker recovery time for the Greek international than first offered by the club, as noted in freelance injury analyst Ben Dinnery’s tweets below.

There was more good news as youngster Dinos Mavropanos is back in the mix and could be pushing to feature to give Emery another option in the heart of the defence.

The 21-year-old has made just three appearances for the Gunners since he arrived from PAS Giannina in 2017, and while his priority will be to stay fit and steer clear of injury, he will be hoping that helps him stake a claim for a regular spot in the starting line-up moving forward to help fix a leaky Gunners backline.
