‘Chelsea have to make him stay’ – CFC star publicly urges club to keep teammate

Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger has piled the pressure on the club to keep Callum Hudson-Odoi by urging them to ensure he doesn’t leave.

As noted by BBC Sport, it’s been claimed that the 18-year-old has handed in a transfer request, with Bayern Munich bidding up to £35m for the youngster.

With that in mind, it doesn’t sound particularly promising for the Premier League giants in their bid to keep him at Stamford Bridge, as he has continued to make a positive impression so far this season.

Hudson-Odoi has bagged two goals and three assists in 11 appearances across all competitions after shining in pre-season, but despite seemingly working his way into Maurizio Sarri’s plans, the threat of an exit still looms large.

As per his comments below, Rudiger has made it perfectly clear, and publicly, that he wants the club to do whatever they can to ensure that Hudson-Odoi doesn’t leave.

“What I can say is clear, Chelsea have to make him stay. It will be a pity if this young talent leaves us,” he is quoted as saying by Sky Sports.

“Chelsea need to give him a new contract. He’s a quality player. You can see how he dribbles, how he goes one against one, he can be good for us.”

While it’s difficult to disagree with the German international, it’s questionable as to whether his comments will be welcomed by the club, as it ultimately piles further pressure on them to keep Hudson-Odoi in west London, with the Chelsea fans doing their bit to convince the youngster to stay too by chanting for it after their FA Cup win on Sunday.

Time will tell if they get their wish, but Rudiger is firmly with them on their stance of keeping one of the club’s top talents.
