Tottenham have been very limited in recent transfer windows, but reports claim they could splash out £30m on Carlos Soler from Valencia this summer.

The 22-year-old has impressed so far this season, scoring two goals and providing six assists in 28 appearances in all competitions.

Soler has worked his way through the youth ranks at Valencia and now has 90 appearances for the senior side under his belt since making his breakthrough in the 2016/17 campaign, while he’s been capped at U19 and U21 level with Spain.

In turn, that would suggest that he has a bright future ahead of him, but his development could continue in north London from this summer onwards as ESPN report that Tottenham are preparing to make a £30m bid to acquire his services.

Spurs have been very quiet in the last few transfer windows, with finances perhaps being focused on their new stadium.

Despite that, Mauricio Pochettino has kept them in contention in the top four in the Premier League, but if they wish to kick on and emerge as genuine contenders for trophies, they must surely continue to strengthen the squad at every possible opportunity.

They could look to do so with the potential signing of Soler this summer, with the Spaniard also offering a  long-term solution given his whole career is still ahead of him.

Time will tell if Tottenham can prise him away from the La Liga giants, but given Pochettino’s willingness to give young players prominent roles in his side and to offer regular playing time while establishing a track record of improving youngsters, it could be enough to convince Soler that it’s the right decision for his future.
