Video: Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer explains Lindelof absence, Rashford decision

Interim Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was without Victor Lindelof for the trip to Fulham on Saturday, while Marcus Rashford was left on the bench.

Considering the duo have been fundamental to the impressive 10-game unbeaten run under the Norwegian tactician, it would have come as somewhat of a surprise to many to see them left out of the starting XI, with Lindelof not even named in the squad.

While the assumption was that perhaps Solskjaer had one eye on the Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday, he revealed prior to kick-off at Craven Cottage that the key duo have picked up knocks, as seen in the video below.

In turn, it’s sensible man-management from him to leave them out and avoid risking aggravating their respective issues, although it remains to be seen whether or not it helps them enough to recover in time for Tuesday’s showdown at Old Trafford with the Ligue 1 champions.

It didn’t seem to bother them too much against Fulham though, with goals from Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial putting them in full control and on their way to breaking into the top four in the Premier League table.

With so much on the line in midweek though as Solskjaer looks to continue his impressive run in charge, this time at the highest level in Europe, he’ll certainly want both Lindelof and Rashford available for selection.
